Dan Cully & Kate Mahood Live at the Secret Garden Cafe Yeppoon

Join Dan Cully (VIC) and CQ local Kate Mahood at Secret Garden cafe on the 22nd of March for an intimate evening of earthy folk music, storytelling and shared songs. Blending folk, indie-roots and country-inflected sounds, these two complementary artists bring warmth, depth and groove, singing straight from the heart.
Dan Cully is a Melbourne-based indie/roots artist whose music draws deeply from the natural world and the interconnected way life unfolds within it. Vast landscapes, flowing mountain streams and elemental rhythms shape his songwriting, while an underlying sense of mysticism and movement runs through his work, reaching and unfolding toward the light. Layering harmonica, didgeridoo, stomp box, guitar and soaring vocals, Dan’s solo performances carry the power and energy of a full band and have been likened to the sounds of Xavier Rudd and John Butler. A national touring artist, he has supported ARIA Award–winning Australian icon Deborah Conway and three-time Folk Award winners The Weeping Willows, and has appeared at festivals across the country alongside artists including The Pierce Brothers, 19-Twenty and Eskimo Joe.
CQ local Kate Mahood is a folk singer-songwriter whose music blends delicate folk stylings with the raw storytelling heart of country. With a voice that carries both tenderness and strength, her songs explore vulnerability, resilience and the quiet power of personal truth. Renowned for her captivating live performances, Mahood has shared stages with artists including Busby Marou, Harry Manx, The Whitlams and Alex Lloyd. Her debut EP Once You Were a Mountain received acclaim for its emotional depth and lyrical beauty, following the success of singles including Changeling and Silver and Gold.
The evening will feature solo performances from both Cully and Mahood, alongside special moments of shared songs and harmonies inviting listeners into rich stories shaped by nature, connection and the human experience. Both taking brand new songs on the road across Australia in 2026 for their ‘All in sweet time’ tour this evening promises to be a deeply connected, memorable live music experience.
The event will also feature a special opening set from Aliza Ruth.
