Family Drug Support Meetings

September 21 @ 5:00 pm8:00 pm
Event Series (See All)

Family Drug Support operates to assist families throughout Australia to deal with a person’s alcohol and other drugs issues in a way that strengthens relationships and achieves positive outcomes.

We will be hosting a Family Support Meeting at Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Online each month, see Flyer for details.

These groups are for families and friends impacted by a person’s drugs and alcohol use. No cost, or registration involved

FDS believes families are important. They understand their family better than anyone else. If left to work through issues in isolation, families can become exhausted and give up. However, when supported they can become a vital force for change. For many, a Support Group is the first time they have had the opportunity and the forum to tell their story.

The Group provides a safe and supportive place for people to talk openly about their journey with their drug dependant member(s). For some group members, feeling judged, shame and stigma have prevented them in the past for reaching out for support.

A Group is even more powerful by having an audience who is interested, fully engaged, and on a similar journey. The phrase ‘I understand what you are going through’ from others in the group becomes meaningful.
There are no rights and wrongs, Family Drug Support offers a non-religious, open meeting for family members, in a non-judgemental, safe environment.
