Parenting a Neurodivergent Child

Understanding and Supporting Neurodivergent Children
This two-session psychoeducational program is designed to support parents and carers to better understand neurodivergence and build confidence in supporting their child across home, school, and community settings.
Session 1: Understanding Neurodivergence
Considering the experience of the group, we will explore what neurodivergence means, including key developmental theories and common presentations. This session will be a discussion of the theory and practical experiences of the group, clarifying questions and any areas of uncertainty. Depending on the needs of the group we will clarify and guide participants through the diagnostic process and provide an overview of available supports, resources, and pathways.
Session 2: Practical Support for Families
Learn evidence-based parenting strategies tailored to neurodivergent children, alongside information about school supports and available resources. The session also highlights the importance of parent and carer self-care, recognising the demands of supporting a neurodivergent child.
This program offers a supportive, informative space to increase understanding, reduce uncertainty, and empower families with practical knowledge and tools.
Please note this is an adults only event, thank you.
