The Village Hub

“So… what actually IS The Village Hub?”

And every time someone asks us, we realise there’s no way to answer it in one sentence

Because yes, there’s coffee. There’s a marketplace. There are events. There are kids everywhere. You can work here. You can shop here. You can sit here.

But none of that is really it.

The actual idea behind it is pretty simple.

We think our intergenerational village is disappearing.

Our families live hours away. Or interstate. Or sometimes family just isn’t part of the equation.

We have babies and discover maternity leave can involve a truly concerning amount of time talking to someone who cannot talk back.

Then we return to work and attempt the very normal task of being a productive member of society while someone is asking for a snack every seven minutes.

We’re all carrying different amounts on different days, but somehow we’ve built a world where everyone is expected to manage their own little island.

We don’t love that.

So The Village Hub is the container for the village to happen again.

Bring your baby. Bring your laptop. Bring both.

Come because you need company. Come because you have capacity to give some.

Come with your mum. Come because your mum lives 2,000km away. Come because you don’t have that relationship at all.

Come to work. Come to shop. Come to an event. Come for a coffee and accidentally tell someone your entire life story.

Kids can be kids here. You can be Mum here without apologising for it. And you can also walk through the door without children anywhere in the vicinity because, despite some of our own personal inability to go anywhere alone, the village is not just for mums.

We don’t actually know everything this place will become yet.

And we really like that.

We built the container.

What happens inside it belongs to all of us.
