I am grateful to have the opportunity to offer this inspirational and educational container for our little budding artists.\nIf you are also interested in enrolling your child/teen in our new ‘Creative Fundamentals’ program (Thursdays 4.45pm) alongside our Hands & Heart Sessions\, we have a special discount that can be applied at checkout. Get in touch if you have any questions.\n\nAim: The aim of Hands & Heart Kids Art is to provide an inclusive\, inspiring environment for all children to feel creatively confident. A space of exploration and curiosity without judgment where children learn new creative skills\, build resilience\, and connect with their peers\n\nOutcomes: Children will grow and develop not only in creativity but personal confidence\, they will have fun with their peers in a friendly\, encouraging environment.\nValues that are actively encouraged:\n Encouraging and friendly behavior Trying new and challenging things Celebrating our authentic selves and each other Patience\, tolerance\, and acceptance Practicing creative courage\n\nIn my teaching of both children and adults\, I encourage the mindset and perspective that art cannot be good or bad\, it just is. They will receive their own visual diary at the start of each term\, they are encouraged to use their journal at home or school and bring it to class to share their work. While exploring these various mediums students will be building a foundation in their skill level and techniques while encouraging exploration and creative confidence.\nMATERIALS: All art materials needed are supplied and included in tuition cost.\nIMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS: Please send a responsible guardian upstairs to collect all children under 14. Children are not to leave by themselves\, we take everyone’s safety very seriously and genuinely care about each child that attends class. On the first day of class there will be a student information form to fill out\, please come in to the art school to fill this out so we have up to date details.\nA little about the art school:\nArtist & teacher Julianne Holland has been facilitating creative classes\, workshops\, and events for 5 years through her business Aphrodite Art School. She currently teaches weekly children’s art classes\, intuitive creative workshops for people with disabilities\, regular Intro Into Art programs for adults as well as leading Hike & Paint Nature experiences and Aphrodite Expeditions (multiday art adventure tours for women). Julianne (Jules) also travels throughout Central Queensland to assist and facilitate art workshops and classes for adults and children in rural and remote communities\, working alongside local community and art groups.\nJules is now supported by a team of incredible local Artists and Teachers including Jess McKenzie and Joel Vanderluys.

You will find our little red door nestled next door to the hippy garage shop.\nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: Throughout this course\, students will get to work in a wide range of mediums including graphite\, charcoal\, ink\, acrylic\, watercolor\, pastels\, clay\, collage\, and more. While exploring these various mediums students will be building a foundation in their skill level and techniques while encouraging exploration and creative confidence.\nMATERIALS: All art materials needed are supplied and included in tuition cost.\nIMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS: Please send a responsible guardian upstairs to collect all children under 14. Children are not to leave by themselves\, we take everyone’s safety very seriously and genuinely care about each child that attends class. On the first day of class there will be a student information form to fill out\, please come in to the art school to fill this out so we have up to date details.\nA little about the art school:\nArtist & teacher Julianne Holland has been facilitating creative classes\, workshops\, and events for 5 years through her business Aphrodite Art School. She currently teaches weekly children’s art classes\, intuitive creative workshops for people with disabilities\, regular Intro Into Art programs for adults as well as leading Hike & Paint Nature experiences and Aphrodite Expeditions (multiday art adventure tours for women). Julianne (Jules) also travels throughout Central Queensland to assist and facilitate art workshops and classes for adults and children in rural and remote communities\, working alongside local community and art groups.\nJules is now supported by a team of incredible local Artists and Teachers including Jess McKenzie and Joel Vanderluys.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to offer this inspirational and educational container for our little budding artists.\nIf you are also interested in enrolling your child/teen in our new ‘Creative Fundamentals’ program (Thursdays 4.45pm) alongside our Hands & Heart Sessions\, we have a special discount that can be applied at checkout. Get in touch if you have any questions.\n\nAim: The aim of Hands & Heart Kids Art is to provide an inclusive\, inspiring environment for all children to feel creatively confident. A space of exploration and curiosity without judgment where children learn new creative skills\, build resilience\, and connect with their peers\n\nOutcomes: Children will grow and develop not only in creativity but personal confidence\, they will have fun with their peers in a friendly\, encouraging environment.\nValues that are actively encouraged:\n Encouraging and friendly behavior Trying new and challenging things Celebrating our authentic selves and each other Patience\, tolerance\, and acceptance Practicing creative courage\n\nIn my teaching of both children and adults\, I encourage the mindset and perspective that art cannot be good or bad\, it just is. And we can learn and grow and become curious about why we do things in certain ways with our artwork but we don’t judge them. If the student enjoyed the process or learned something new then it’s a brilliant\, successful work of art.\n\nI believe in the value of this program because I was once ‘that arty kid’. Sporty kids find their tribe early and have a multitude of opportunities to learn\, as do our little musicians and dancers. Our little artists should have the same feeling of community and be given the same opportunities.\n\nStudents explore and learn something different most weeks with some subjects rolling over into the following week. They will receive their own visual diary at the start of each term\, they are encouraged to use their journal at home or school and bring it to class to share their work. DESCRIPTION:Apparently the question of the week is…\n\n\n\n“So… what actually IS The Village Hub?”\n\n\nAnd every time someone asks us\, we realise there’s no way to answer it in one sentence \n\n\n\nBecause yes\, there’s coffee. There’s a marketplace. There are events. There are kids everywhere. You can work here. You can shop here. You can sit here.\n\n\nBut none of that is really it.\n\n\nThe actual idea behind it is pretty simple.\n\n\nWe think our intergenerational village is disappearing.\n\n\n\nOur families live hours away. Or interstate. Or sometimes family just isn’t part of the equation.\n\n\nWe have babies and discover maternity leave can involve a truly concerning amount of time talking to someone who cannot talk back.\n\n\nThen we return to work and attempt the very normal task of being a productive member of society while someone is asking for a snack every seven minutes.\n\n\n\nWe’re all carrying different amounts on different days\, but somehow we’ve built a world where everyone is expected to manage their own little island.\n\n\nWe don’t love that.\n\n\n\nSo The Village Hub is the container for the village to happen again.\n\n\nBring your baby. Bring your laptop. Bring both.\n\n\n\nCome because you need company. Come because you have capacity to give some.\n\n\nCome with your mum. Come because your mum lives 2\,000km away. Come because you don’t have that relationship at all.\n\n\nCome to work. Come to shop. Come to an event. Come for a coffee and accidentally tell someone your entire life story.\n\n\n\nKids can be kids here. You can be Mum here without apologising for it. And you can also walk through the door without children anywhere in the vicinity because\, despite some of our own personal inability to go anywhere alone\, the village is not just for mums.\n\n\n\nWe don’t actually know everything this place will become yet.\n\n\nAnd we really like that.\n\n\nWe built the container.\n\n\nWhat happens inside it belongs to all of us.\n\n\n\nSo if you’re still wondering what The Village Hub is…\n\n\nCome have a stickybeak.\n\n\nStay five minutes.
